The generation of form in the Jewish world: the concepts of form and genesis in the philosophy of Moses Maimonides
The goal of this essay is the analysis of the concepts of ‘form’ and ‘genesis’ in the philosophical thought of the most important Jewish thinker of the Middle Ages: Mosheh ben Maymon. It begins with an analysis of the contradictions implicit in the concept of ‘form’, particularly as relates to the expression ‘in His own image’ and the meaning of the term ‘form’ in the Kabbalah. After this brief preface, the essay goes on to analyze the meaning and importance of the two concepts in the Guide of the Perplexed, Maimonides’ masterpiece.

Daniela Enriquez nata a Palermo 1984, nel 2006 si è laureata in Filosofia e Scienze etiche presso l’Università degli studi di Palermo con una tesi su Mosè Maimonide e nel 2008 ha conseguito la laurea specialistica in Filosofia e Storia delle Idee presso la stessa Università con una tesi sull’ermeneutica ebraica. Nel 2008 ha vinto una borsa di studio per un corso di ebraico presso l’International School dell’Universita di Haifa e nel 2009 è risultata vincitrice di una borsa di studio annuale presso la Università Ebraica di Gerusalemme. In Israele ha portato avanti i suoi studi in filosofia ebraica medievale e ebraico biblico e moderno. Attualmente si trova a Washington D.C. negli Stati Uniti dove sta migliorando la sua conoscenza dell’inglese e portando avanti una ricerca sull’ebraismo americano moderno.
