Purim of Saragossa, Purim of Siracusa
This brief communication offers a few considerations and reviews recent research about a minor festival, that used to be celebrated by several families in the Balkans, Anatolia, and Jerusalem, and is ascribed by some to Jews from Siracusa (Syracuse in Sicily) – as argued cogently as early as 1910, by David Simonsen – but sometimes ascribed to the Spanish city of Saragossa.

Ephraim Nissan nato nel 1955, cresciuto e formatosi a Milano, a Londra dal 1994, ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca nel 1989. Ha all’attivo oltre 330 pubblicazioni, delle quali una metà sono di studi ebraici, in una prospettiva spesso interdisciplinare, per lo più filologica o antropologica, ma anche storica, semiotica, o computazionale. Ha circa 120 articoli su rivista. Curatore ospite per riviste internazionali una ventina di volte, condirettore o cofondatore di altre, ha pubblicato o sta pubblicando anche dei libri o come autore, o come curatore.
