Flavius Mithridates as a translator of the Commentary on the “Song of Songs” by Gersonides. On a recent volume in the series “Pico della Mirandola Studies” by the publisher Leo S. Olschki
In the present “note” a brief presentation is given of the publication of the Commentary on the “Song of Songs” by the Jewish philosopher Gersonides in the fifteenth-century Jewish-Latin translation by Flavius Mithridates, edited by Michela Andreatta, for the publisher Leo S. Olschki. The note underlines some aspects of the translation modalities adopted by Mithridates, the author of various Latin versions of cabalistic and philosophical Jewish works on behalf of Giovanni Pico della Mirandola.

Flavia Buzzetta ha conseguito la laurea in Filosofia presso l’Università degli Studi di Palermo e il dottorato di ricerca in Filosofia nella medesima Università, in cotutela con l’École Pratique des Hautes Études di Parigi. Si occupa di temi e problemi della magia medievale e della cabala cristiana rinascimentale, con particolare attenzione al pensiero di Giovanni Pico della Mirandola.
