Some preliminary remarks on Evkaf Musesi 1933, a copy of Ibn ‘Arabi's Fuu ṣal-ikam by the hand of Ṣadr al-Din al-Qunawi
Fuūs ṣal-ikam played a central role in knowledge and diffusion of the thought of Ibn ‘Arabī (d. 1240/638). Despite the great importance of the text, no edition of the oldest surviving code, kept at the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art in Istanbul (repertoire: “Evkaf Musesi 1933”) has yet been published. This article gives a brief presentation of it and analyzes the marginal annotations and reading notes that accompany the text. It is deduced that the manuscript was written by al-Qūnawī (d. 1274/672), a disciple of Ibn ‘Arabī and an eminent propagator of his doctrines, and it was then read, correct and authenticated in the presence of the author himself, also with comparison with the original code, a lost autograph.
A long closing note certifies that the book was the object of lessons that ended in the first half of the year 630 h. and records in extended form the names of the narrow circle of people that heard it, indirectly confirming the thesis of the limited circulation that the book originally had.

Marco A. Golfetto si è laureato in Lingue e Letterature Orientali ed ha conseguito il dottorato in Cultura, tradizione e società arabo-islamiche all’Università di Venezia. E’ ora impegnato in un progetto di ricerca presso il Dipartimento di Storia dell’Ateneo di Padova. Il suo ambito di interesse spazia su vari aspetti collegati alla mistica islamica e in particolare alle dottrine e alle istituzioni sufi di epoca classica e premoderna. Nel corso dei suoi studi si è occupato di figure centrali del pensiero islamico medievale come al-Ghazālī e Ibn ‘Arabī, ed ha svolto ricerche nell’ambito delle pratiche di iniziazione e delle forme che queste hanno assunto storicamente. Ha pubblicato la traduzione commentata del Kitāb al-murāqaba wa’l muḥāsaba di al-Ghazālī (La vigilanza e l’esame di coscienza, Torino 2005) e collaborato in qualità di traduttore al Dizionario del Corano curato nell’edizione italiana da I. Zilio Grandi per Mondadori (Milano 2007). Suoi articoli e contributi sono apparsi in riviste e pubblicazioni in Italia e negli Stati Uniti. Allo stato attuale è impegnato nell’edizione e traduzione annotata del codice superstite più antico dei Fuṣūṣ al-ḥikam di Ibn ‘Arabī.
